Guiding young voices in english
Explore my journey in teaching English as a second language to elementary students. Discover how I empower young learners to find their voice, build confidence, and thrive in new academic environments.

Education Outreach & Peer Mentorship
My teaching journey began in ninth grade as a volunteer assistant at a church in Tennessee, where I helped Spanish-speaking immigrant families learn English and prepared activities for community gatherings. This experience introduced me to the challenges many newcomers face when adapting to a new language and culture.
Later, I worked with Chinese ESL students, helping younger children improve their English skills and adjust to international and American school environments. Through participation in educational initiatives such as U Start Teaching (UST), I connected with other student educators and expanded my understanding of mentorship and community engagement.
Building on these experiences, I helped develop a student-led team through Studio Club to continue supporting younger learners. In addition to language tutoring, I also mentor high school students interested in humanities and writing competitions by providing essay feedback, sharing opportunities, and encouraging them to engage in academic discussion and creative expression.
Across these different roles, my goal has remained the same: helping students gain confidence in their voices and feel more connected to their communities.

Igniting curiosity with creative learning
My teaching style is defined by engaging, creative themes that spark curiosity and emotional connection in elementary students. I frequently weave storytelling and artistic elements into lessons, transforming language learning from an intimidating task into an expressive journey. By framing writing as an exciting exploration rather than a process of correction, students eagerly experiment with language and develop conviction in their own ideas. This imaginative, structured, and encouraging approach is particularly effective for younger ESL learners, nurturing both their language skills and their burgeoning confidence.
"I understand how young learners experience language learning, not just how language is taught. My approach builds confidence, curiosity, and clarity, helping students feel supported as they develop literacy skills and self-expression. I create an environment where students feel safe to explore language and discover their own voice."
